I am new to this type of training, yet am familiar with the exercises you show. Are you telling me you have female and for that fact males that can do 50 ring dips and sets of 25 pushups? I find this hard to believe for even highly trained athletes. And if you are able to perform this workout, do you end up with your palms torn up like the dude in the picture shown on the web site?
Why would i want to this?

So, this is a very funny question to me. First of all, yes several of our female and male athletes as well as thousands of crossfitters worldwide are able to do  this exact workout, being it came straight from the crossfit headquater's website( See WOD Thurs, Feb 19th). And 25 pushups after 50 ring dips would be way too easy. That's why, if you were to look at it correctly, it says 50 pushups.
But, if you were to do your research on Crossfit and what it stands for, every single one of our workouts are scalable for anyone, any age, at any walk of life. CrossFit is by far the most effective and safest workout as long as done properly. My staff and I have over 50+ years of experience in Corrective Exercising and Functional Training  expertise. So, just so you know, we have our experience and we know exactly what we're doing. I would never have any of our clients do anything that would hurt them, or beyond that, inhibit them from being entirely functionable in their daily life. You will see this through the next few blogs that come up about your question, which brings me to my next point. I am the owner of CrossFit FX TX and  I am "The Dude" in the picture with my hands bloodied and split open. We do a LOT of experimenting and testing workouts between my staff and myself. I split my hands sometimes because I like to do excessive things that take my body to the limit, and I absolutely wouldn't change that for anything. You will also see this with several of our athletes at our facility because the only way in life to have a breakthrough is to have a breakdown sometimes! It's the same as muscle fibers. You can't make them stronger without tearing them up. When we try to make our grips for our pulling movements stronger, sometimes our skin rips. Not a big deal. It comes back stronger. The crazy thing about your question is I have yet to see one person split there hands on ring dips or pushups. We see it with pullups, kettle bell work, and poer movements with the barbell. BUT, we have some people that never rip their hands. It's all about what you want to get out of it. So, hopefully that answers your questions, and by the way, did someone ask you to do crossfit? Because we don't ask or try to force anyone to do crossfit. If you come into our establishment, you'll notice we will all tell you to try it for free a few times, then if you don't like it, don't join. Unlike all the globo gyms out there, which my staff and I have worked, we don't try to close anyone on our program. We value all our members, but we don't NEED try to sell you or anyone else on crossfit. So, I would suggest you look at crossfit.com and do some research before you blog on someone's website again! Thanks for you great feedback. If nothing else, our clients will get a good laugh at it,

Haha, well put Dylan. Just to add a bit more to help you understand Jay, Crossfit is dif. and looking from the outside it looks crazy, but like Dylan said, if you arent sure about it, try it for free and then make your own opinion based on that. The tearing of hands, bruises, cuts, scrapes...thats all for a specific breed of humans, it does not define what crossfit is. Those of us you see doing that stuff are extremists of the sport. We make up a very small percent of crossfitters and we show off what we enjoy doing; pushing our body to the limit in every way possible! The fact is we can scale these workouts down to anyones level, any age, any level, any personality...in fact, I'm sure some of our base-level atheletes will attest to that here in this blog. Hopfully this can help you understand a little more about crossfit! Please feel free to ask any more questions.

Here is my opinion to this comment. Everyone has choices. Crossfit and for that matter overall fitness is a choice. Crossfit gives you several things, two of which are overall fitness and cosmetic results. Now most people in this world workout for cosmetic results. Now lets compare crossfit vs. the globo gyms. Just fyi I have about 10 years experience in personal workouts. What you get at globo gyms... Social environment, fancy amenities, and people trying to sell you things! Now in order to get results at these gyms you have train both with resistance training and aerobic training which would take about 1.5 hours minimum 4 days weekly. Now lets talk about crossfit. What you get... RESULT!!! Yes you may make friends here as well, but at the end of the day you get results. You work with a certified trainer ever time you enter the gym. We combine aerobic exercises with functional strength training exercises! You literally drop your time in the gym by more than half by CHOOSING to do crossfit. Its entirely your choice if you want to push yourself to the point where your hands bleed, or maybe you throw up, but its your CHOICE! LASTLY PLEASE WALK INTO A GLOBO GYM AND LOOK AT THE MEMBERS! NEXT I WOULD LIKE FOR YOU TO EITHER COME TO OUR LOCATION AND LOOK AT OUR MEMBERS OR LOOK ONLINE. DO YOU SEE A DIFFERENCE? ITS BODY COMPOSITION! WE GET RESULTS! OUR MEMBERS DON’T COME IN OUR GYM WITHOUT GETTING RESULTS, WHILE AT OTHER GYMS PEOPLE CONTINUE WORKING OUT AND THEY CONTINUE TO SEE THE SCALE GO UP! ITS THAT SIMPLE

      Jay-
I joined the gym about a month ago, and i can tell you from first hand experience it is unlike anythign I've ever done. If you told me I'd be making it through half these workouts, I'd have called you crazy. They did a great job of teaching me how to perform the lifts correxctly and safetly, so i felt i could push myself witout the risk of injury. The workouts are insanely intense, and i swear they are the best workouts I could imagine.

As for the hands, I lost a few callouses on one of the heavy pull-up days, but have now learned how to better prevent that. It is like any other sport, if it doesn't hurt a little you're probably not going hard enough.
Come check it out, you'll be glad you did...and sore...really sore. ha

I'm new to this type of training as well. I have been a personal trainer privately and in your traditional gyms, such as 24hr Fitness, Nautilus Health clubs, and I was skeptical about this type of program myself.
However, today I did my First crossfit workout called "Cindy" with Dustin one of the trainers with CrossfitFxTx. It was absolutely amazing. I understand the pictures can be either intimidating or scary, but not all workouts are to the extreme of ripping your hands open. Its simply about pushing yourself farther then your mental limits would want you to go, but what your body can take. Todays workout was painful don't get me wrong, but in a good way, and for people that workout, you can relate to that type of pain. So I'm simply saying, don't knock something before trying it! Thanks CrossfitFxTx!

Jay we offer one week free at our establishment for others to try out. Every fitness program out there most likely works, but first and foremost is determining which one is right for you based on your fitness goals.

Have you been here to watch any of our classes? Watching and doing have two COMPLETELY different effects. What is your fitness background?

Secondly, I happen to be female and pride my self in being strong physically, mentally, and emotionally. I'm also a firm believer any female can do anything a man can, gender should never be a factor. It's the willingness to be what you want to be.

Although it may may show 50 ring push ups and 25 push ups for WOD, not everyone may be able to do it....so it is scaled/modified in order to build up your strength to get to that point.

Thirdly, you don't have to take it to the extreme like some Crossfitters do. It's all up to you if you want it to take it that far.

Finally, you must keep an OPEN MIND to things to best understand what Crossfit is all about. Talk is cheap and no point of explaining all this to you if you have not tried our classes! After Dylan and I explaining this to you, I'm 110% sure you will believe what you currently believe up until you experience it yourself. Try Crossfit out for a week, what do you have to lose? You might be able to answer most of your own questions you have and understand what Crossfit really does to you.

I am the only female trainer at Crossfit FX TX and love to rip my hands open. You look at the workouts and think impossible but if you are a true athlete who wants to push yourself to the limit then YOU JUST DO IT! I thought I was in awesome shape before trying Crossfit. heck no! I was horrible. Your pretty pathetic when you can't do 10 pushups. Now when i see 50 pushups its a breeze. Just thought you should know.
